Aerobat
March 18th, 2008
Created by Kyle “Drig” Kirkman. Editted by Matthew “Tao” Myers.
The following talent tree is accessible to anyone who meets the prerequisites.
Birds fly. Insects fly, and airspeeders fly. The aerobat soars, twirls, floats, darts, and flies rings around all of them. He would rather touch the clouds than stride on land with the pedestrians.
The aerobat’s love of flying goes beyond convenience and evolution. Flight is an intoxicating experience that unleashes another side of the aerobat. The adrenaline rush, confidence boost, and feeling of complete mastery motivate the aerobat to constantly strive to become better at dodging obstacles , avoiding attacks and flying faster than others of his species.

Perhaps the bonus from aerial defense and the improved version should be reduced to +1’s. +2’s do seem to be a bit excessive.

Yeah, I playtested a geonosian with this talent, the imp version, and aerial evasion, and it was very difficult to hit. Over 45 ref I believe.

For the love of the living force man!!!
I hope you were fighting mace windu with sonic weapons on geonosis and that is was quite epic.

I believe Improved Flying Speed has no reason to be, since the Long Stride talent already applies to any fly, climb or swim speed the character might possess. Besides, increasing flight speed by 4 with so few prerequisites seems a little too much.

Actually, it was a melee weapon genosian and was a vibro axe wielder, hmm, I was incorrect, it’s ref was 44 on the ground and 48 in the air. Poor yoda didn’t stand a chance.

actually, the reason imp flying speed is here I believe is so you can take it from any class.
and the bonuses should be reduced. Even though my geonosian was so focused in dex it didn’t matter anyways.

imp fly speed should probably be +2 for the first, but only +1 for the second.
It’s actaully much worse than long stride.
maybe simply a single imp fly speed. so you can’t take it over again.

I have made a few adjustments based on your feedback. I changed improved flight speed to a flat +2 bonus to flight speed. It is now narrower than Long Stride (in that it only applies to flight), but allows someone using, for example, a jetpack and medium armor to gain the boost.
I also toned down the Aerial Defense. Geesh… what was I thinking!?!
