Although trained in the Jedi arts, the Renegade Jedi has cast aside the restrictions of the Jedi Order and their archaic code, reveling in the power of the Force. But for their power, the Renegade Jedi knows all to well the resources the Jedi Order can use to bring them to justice for their crimes, and so many seek refuge in the forgotten corners of the galaxy, while others instead choose to go out in a blaze of glory, causing as much carnage and suffering as possible before their lives are snuffed out.

Once a prospective candidate to be a Jedi Knight, somewhere along the way the failed Jedi didn’t measure up, most often due to a lack of self-discipline, letting their emotions get the better of them. Now, the former Jedi hopeful does the best they can to forget the painful memories of the past and remain out of sight, appearing to most people as just another homeless drunkard.

Although a powerful warrior, Kyle as a Jedi seemed to keep a low profile, being reluctant to embrace the Force itself. He repeatedly denied the ways of the Force, at one time going so far as to completely sever his own connection to it. The core of this reluctance was his fear of the dark side and distrust of his powers. He knew that deep inside, he was driven by lust for revenge and hatred against those that killed his father, which he knew all too well was an emotion fed by the dark side. He did call upon the dark side of the Force twice in the scramble for the Valley of the Jedi, as he had killed Maw in anger and used a dark side technique to defeat Boc. It was after the Dromund Kaas incident that he severed the bonds with the Force completely. His motivation for reconnecting with the Force was ultimately also motivated by revenge, as he sought to avenge Ors, whom he thought killed. But even in his darkest hours there would always be some light inside him and he would spare the lives of his worst enemies more often than not. When he learned that Ors was not dead, Luke Skywalker observed, Katarn changed, his hatred being replaced with hope, his lust for revenge being replaced with compassion.

Older and wiser, at this point in their career the Jedi Guardian has become a master of both the lightsaber and of the Force, with only the most powerful and dangerous of foes having a chance to defeat them in battle. Having taken at least one Padawan Learner under their wing, they have proven fit to pass the lore of the Jedi onto the next generation of Jedi Knights. And while they strive to employ all other peaceful options, they are still quite adept at using “aggressive negotiations” to resolve a danger to the Republic.

A steadfast defender of the Republic, as a full-fledged Knight the Jedi Guardian has truly come into their own, becoming a such a formidable warrior that few outside the Jedi Order can rival their combat acumen. With experience and age comes wisdom, and the Jedi Guardian not only understands the precepts of the Jedi Code, but is able to put them into practice with minimal effort. Although they still favor the usage of “aggressive negotiations,” they more fully understand that there is more than one way to end a conflict, and thus seek more peaceful resolutions before drawing their blade.

Still learning the ways of the Force, the young Jedi Guardian can still prove to be a surprisingly capable warrior to those that underestimate them. While they lack the discipline and Force mastery of a Jedi Knight, their devotion to the Jedi Code guides their actions, with a great many of them favoring “aggressive negotiations” in terms of neutralizing a threat.

A true scholar of the Force, the Jedi Consular’s actions are in synch with the Unifying Force, enabling them to act in accordance with the Will of the Force at all times. Wielding diplomacy the way a warrior wields a blaster, they are able to ensure that cooler heads prevail in all but the most turbulent of situations. Having trained at least one Padawan Learner during their tenure in the Jedi Order, their counsel is often sought by Padawans and younger Knights, and many people outside the Jedi Order take heed when they speak, knowing that their words contain both wisdom and insight.

Well-versed in the mysteries of the Force, the Jedi Consular is able to expertly apply their abilities for knowledge and defense. With the right words, they can talk all but the most hardened of enemies into peaceful surrender, and are just as adept at influencing the weak-minded with the Force if the situation calls for such actions.
