Captain Jarias Avery

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Non-canon character

Captain Jarias Avery, born Jarias Lane, would spend most of his life in the shadow of his twin brother. When the two boys were born to a wealthy family on Corellia, their presence was felt almost immediately by members of the Jedi Order. Though both boys were examined, only Daska would be inducted into the Order. Despite graduating in the top of his class and becoming a championship level fencer, Jarias would continue to struggle to gain the attention and approval of his family.

Jarias eventually inherits the family business, though he is more interested in maintaining his playboy lifestyle and soon drives the business into financial trouble, allowing it to be absorbed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Jarias continues to manage a small research division after the merger, becoming infamous for test piloting his own highly experimental and dangerous ship designs. Though some of his designs would eventually contribute to the continued success of CEC’s freighter lines, many of his designs are dustbinned for not meeting the company’s high standards of reliability and safety. After a number of unprofitable seasons, Jarias’ research department was shut down permanently.

During the Clone Wars, Jarias would enlist with the Republic for the opening months of the war, hoping to prove himself to be as much a hero as his brother. After the death of his brother, however, Jarias questioned his loyalties and he would eventually become a privateer in the Separatist fleet under the assumed identity of Jarias Avery. He continued to fight the Empire long after the majority of the Separatist movement had collapsed, staging daring hit and run strikes deep into the Core Worlds.

Eventually, Jarias would contribute the firepower of the Vreni Blade and his well trained and disciplined crew to the growing Rebel Movement.

Destroyer Droid Mk. II

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

The droideka Mark II was an upgraded variant of the droideka employed by the Zann Consortium during the Galactic Civil War.

Like its predecessor, the Mark II was vulnerable when it was moving; however, when deployed, it was essentially a turret. This version of the droideka was different from previous types not only in appearance but also in capabilities, as they were capable of switching between blaster cannons and ion cannons, which allowed them to combat infantry or vehicles. Like the original droideka, they utilized a shield to protect themselves from harm when they were deployed.

They were highly effective against enemy artillery, as they could wait out of range and then race inside the guns’ firing arc and tear the lightly armored vehicles apart. They could also use ion blasters to take down shields and could dominate infantry squads with their rapid-firing blasters, but suffered against PLEX troopers and were extremely vulnerable when rolling.

Hailfire Droid

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Designed by SacredPhoenix. Edited by Tao.
ALTERNATE! Official Stats now available inĀ The Clone Wars Campaign GuideĀ (pg. 199)

The Hailfire-class droid tank was a self-aware mobile missile platform capable of destroying entire platoons of enemy soldiers. It ran on large hoop-like wheels on either side of the main armored command module, which enabled it to operate on almost any terrain at impressive speed.

The Hailfire-class was well equipped, with missile launchers fitted on each side of its head, each missile rack carrying 15 guided rocket warheads powerful enough to cause terrible damage to enemy targets. A well-placed shot with one of these missiles was enough to destroy a Republic AT-TE walker.

Each Hailfire droid also had a retractable double blaster for use against infantry and other “soft” targets.

The Hailfire-class also had many different configurations that boasted different types of weapons. Some of the configurations included heavy blaster artillery, ion cannons, or anti-personell stun weapon batteries. The wheels’ inward design gave Hailfires a wider lateral range and the ability to crush tightly grouped soldiers and small vehicles.

BNY-series Servant Droid

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Part of the CLONE WARS LAUNCH SPECTACULAR.

Servant Droid

Designed by the Retail Clan as an unobtrusive alternative to the Cybot Galactica 3PO-series, the BNY-series was produced in the years leading up to the Clone Wars. While they never gained the widespread acceptance of other models of protocol and etiquette droids, reprogrammed BNY-series droids quickly became fashionable as au pairs to the children of the rich Core world elite. The “ears” of the BNY series served as a secondary set of manipulators, making the droid adept at multitasking and performing tasks otherwise unsuited for their small stature.

The fearsome General Loathsom maintained a BNY as his personal servant. The cute little droid took General Whorm Loathsom’s messages, projected holograms and even brought him tea. Tragically, the little droid was blasted by battle droids confused and surprised by Obi-Wan Kenobi’s outwitting of the general.

Whorm Loathsom

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Part of the CLONE WARS LAUNCH SPECTACULAR.

General Loathsom

Whorm Loathsom was a Kerkoiden general in the Separatist Army. During the Clone Wars, he commanded an army of battle droids and Kerkoiden soldiers against Republic forces on Christophsis. During Loathsom’s final attack on the Republic position inside Crystal City, he and General Obi-Wan Kenobi met to discuss surrender terms over a cup of tarine tea. Although Loathsom believed he had the upper hand and could force Kenobi to surrender, the destruction of the Confederacy shield generator by Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano resulted in Loathsom’s surrender.

B2 series Grapple Droid

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Designed by Cortosis

Grapple Droid

The grapple droid, based on the B2 super battle droid model, was a droid model specifically designed for the Separatists’ attack on Coruscant. General Grievous himself personally oversaw its modifications.

Bigger and profoundly more vicious than its predecessors, the grapple droid was equipped with electrically charged industrial pincers, which it used to crush the life from its enemies. The grapple droid excelled at close-quarters combat and its embrace was quite deadly. They proved dangerously efficient against Jedi, who, if grappled, were unable to use a lightsaber.
