Developed from hydrostatic bubble technology, the Gungan personal energy shield was a handheld energy shield employed by members of the Gungan Grand Army to defend against both light physical attacks and blaster fire. These ovoid frames projected a defensive screen of shield energy capable of deflecting blaster bolts back at the shooter and were similar to riot shields used on other systems. The shield was about one and a half meters long and is carried either on the wrist or held in one hand. Presumably, these shields were based on other Gungan plasma technology and could resist blaster fire indefinitely.
A Gungan Energy Shield grants a +2 bonus to Reflex Defense, or a +5 if the Fight Defensively action is taken. Furthermore, while the Fight Defensively action is taken, a Gungan Energy Shield may provide cover against autofire attacks.
