Interceptor IV Frigate

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Designed by Sacredphoenix and ShadoWarrior

It was an upgrade of the Interceptor-class frigate widely used by pirate forces.

With superior shielding and improved weaponry, as well as the “full salvo” missile capabilities that allowed the frigate to fire a barrage of missiles at its target, the Interceptor was a cheap, yet versatile, vessel. It also possessed powerful engines allowing it to reach extremely high sublight velocities for a vessel of its size. The ship’s weakness was its lightly armored hull.

Vengeance-class Frigate

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Designed by Sacredphoenix and ShadoWarrior

These ships had the ability to cloak using technology Zann bought from the black market. However, due to a side effect of this addition, the ships possessed no shields. To make up for it, they were equipped with extremely thick armor for protection. Because of this extra protection, it dramatically affected its speed, making it very slow.

Also, these ships were equipped with mass drivers, so their weapons would entirely bypass an enemy’s ray shields and could overheat their cores to self-destruct if the situation called for it.

Chir’daki (Deathseed)

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Designed by Otter and ShadoWarrior

The fighter was actually an “Ugly” design, having been assembled from parts of both the TIE fighter and the X-wing. Unlike typical Uglies, which were haphazardly cobbled together from whatever parts were available, the Chir’daki was built according to a specific design and apparently had no more variation from one fighter to the next than would a factory-built craft.

The S-foils of the X-wing fighter were attached to a gyroscopic mount which was then mounted onto the main pod of a TIE fighter, similar to the design of the B-wing starfighter. The Death Seed used the twin ion engines of the TIE for propulsion, and relied on the X-wing engines to power the lasers, hyperdrive and shields. The resulting craft had a bit better maneuverability than the standard TIE, but was a little slower. The Chir’daki starfighters were also related to TIEs in the fact that they also had no life support systems, hence they had to wear helmets like Imperial pilots did.

The S-foils gave the Death Seed all the laser power of an X-wing, giving it more firepower than a TIE/ln. The Twi’leks decided not to incorporate any concussion missile or proton torpedo launchers into the design, as those weapons were very difficult to acquire.

All in all, comparing the Deathseed to other uglies, it was well built and a competent starfighter.

Lone Scout-A

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Designed by Shadowrunner and ShadoWarrior

Lone Scout

One of the standard scout ships in the Imperial Scout Corps is the Lone Scout by Sienar. The Lone Scout uses many of the basic technologies in Sienar’s popular line of TIE starfighters, but adds substantial room for passengers and cargo. The LSA-2 is an advance on the original Lone Scout and features an improved hyperdrive backup and new deep scan sensor array.

The popularity of the Lone Scout has brought it into the service of the New Republic Scout Service. The New Republic uses the Lone Scout for many of the standard exploration missions into Wild Space. In the Scout Service, the Lone Scout will usually have a pilot and specialist, but the extra space permits this vessel to perform a variety of missions.

XS Stock Light Freighter

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Designed by Kyle and ShadoWarrior

XS Stock Light

The classic freighter has advanced by leaps and bounds since the Dynamic-class freighters from the days of the Jedi Civil War. The freighter is larger and more versatile than its predecessors, and the XS Stock Light model also features a variety of significant upgrades that make it one of the fastest and most nimble ships in the galaxy.

If the captain prefers to avoid being boarded, the XS has proven itself to be fully capable. In addition to the standard laser and torpedo batteries, the starship is designed with upper and lower turrets that can be controlled manually or remotely from the cockpit.

Captains of these freighters typically live on board, so the XS Stock Light has all the creature comforts anyone could ask for, from a recreational lounge to extra sleeping quarters. It’s no wonder that it inspires such loyalty in its owners.

The ship possesses a hypertransceiver and a fully functional medical suite.

Y-TIE

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Designed by Jemek and ShadoWarrior

Y-TIE

The Y-TIE was an Ugly starfighter built by replacing the standard engine package of a BTL Y-wing starfighter with the radiator wings and ion engines of a standard TIE/ln starfighter. The laser cannons from the TIE replaced the ion cannons in the Y-wing’s turret, and the TIE’s sensor package replaced the Y-wing’s missing sensor array.

This ship was one of the more common “Ugly” designs, thanks to the fact that Y-wings and TIE Fighters were two of the most common ship designs in use. It was neither fast nor maneuverable, but was comparatively durable and packed a punch. In a way, it combined the strengths of both fighters, having better shields and weaponry than a TIE/ln starfighter and better engines and firepower than a BTL Y-wing, whereas the opposite can be said for the TYE-wing.

TYE-wing

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Designed by Jemek and ShadoWarrior

TYE-wing

The TYE-wing was one of the composite starfighter designs known as “uglies“.

Though it was known by a number of names, including TIE-wing, T-wing, Y-ball, TIE-Y, TYE fighter, Die-wing, or simply TYE, it was apparently more standardized than most uglies.

TYE-wings combined the ball cockpit and wing braces of the TIE Fighter with the engine nacelles from the Y-wing. They were armed with two TIE fighter laser cannons, usually had a functional TIE sensor package, and had fair maneuverability. Unfortunately, they had no shields, and although they were faster than many uglies, they were quite slow compared to most mass-produced fighters.

The TYE-wing essentially combined the key weaknesses of both the TIE fighter and the Y-wing, yet had the strengths of neither. Many pilots dubbed them “DIE-wings”, as the survival rate of TYE-Wing pilots was appallingly low.

TYE-wings were often found in the service of pirates, notably Kavil’s Corsairs and others under the Blazing Claw sigil. They were also found in many private defensive fleets. Some were used by the Imperial Remnant.
