Changeling

The following talent tree is accessible to anyone who meets the prerequisites, regardless of class.
Skin-changer, shapeshifter, and freak of nature – these are but a few names often used to describe the changeling. Evolution has granted her the amazing ability to alter the color and texture of her skin, giving her a unique advantage in the galaxy – one that she exploits at every turn. The changeling is so skilled at maintaining a false identity that she hardly ever lets her guard down. Thus she is rarely herself.
CHANGELING TALENT TREE
You are adept at using your natural shape-shifting abilities to your own benefit.
Impersonation: The Changeling improves her natural ability to imitate others. She may reroll any Deception checks when impersonating members of a humanoid species of similar size, keeping the better result.
Prerequisites: Trained in Deception, Shapeshift species trait.
Quick Change:A Changeling can transform herself more rapidly and with less effort than the average shapeshifter. After selecting this talent, the Changeling can transform without losing her stride. She may use a Standard action (as opposed to a Full-Round action) to alter her shape.
This talent may be selected more than once. Each additional selection increases the speed that a Changeling may transform. From a Standard action to a Move action. Finally from a Move action to a Swift action. A Changeling may never change faster than a Swift action.
Prerequisites: Trained in Deception, Shapeshift species trait.
Physiological Transformation:The Changeling may alter her Physiology to gain an offensive and defensive advantage. The Changeling must choose the nature of the transformation from the following list and spend a Full-Round action altering her form appropriately and taking 1d6 damage:
• Gain a +1 natural armor to Reflex Defense, or
• Gain a Chitinous exoskeleton that grants DR 2, or
• Gain a +2 bonus on damage rolls when making unarmed attacks or using natural weapons.
The transformation lasts until the Changeling attempts to assume another form or uses this ability again.
A Changeling can quicken the time it takes to complete the transformation using the quick change ability.
Prerequisites: Trained in Deception, Shapeshift species trait, two other talents from the Changeling Talent Tree.
Improved Physiological Transformation: If this talent is selected once more, change the transformation list to the following:
• Gain a +2 natural armor bonus to Defense, or
• Gain a chitinous exoskeleton that grants a DR 5, or
• Gain an +1 bonus on attack rolls and +2 bonus on damage rolls when making unarmed attacks or using natural weapons.
Prerequisites: Physiological Transformation
Painless Transformation: You no longer take damage from using your shapeshifting or physiological transformation abilities.
Prerequisites: Trained in Endurance, Shapeshift species trait.

The bonuses for Physiological transformation seem a bit off for Saga. I’ve used a changeling character, and the natural armor bonus is much to high, while the DR and bonus damage are too low. Additionally, the change as written prevents the changeling from being better at anything but martial arts for the damage, so we applied the damage to all melee attacks to simulate the punches and kicks and spike jabs while fighting in melee. Also, My group found that condition track movement was more appropriate than damage.
For my games, we decided:
+1 nat armor to ref def;
+2 DR;
+1 damage to melee attacks.
improved is:
+2 natural armor;
+3 DR;
+3 damage to melee attacks.
Just some of my feed back.

Majestic,
Good feedback. I agree with your analysis, and have updated the class. I didn’t use your exact modifications, but I definitely took them into consideration.

I didn’t even notice you’d done that. *Slaps Forehead*
