Jedi Shadow

March 18th, 2008

The Jedi Council draws these elite guardians of the galaxy from a select group of Jedi. They seek out truth, defeat injustice, and track people and information. They investigate the presence of the dark side and bring it to light, whether it is a rising dark side threat or a dangerous crime lord. Using stealth and guile, they root out dark side activity and other threats to the Jedi Order, the Republic, and its citizens. They learn to use the Force to hide from sight, allowing them to penetrate to the source of danger.

JEDI SHADOW TALENT TREE

You have learned to use the Force to aid you in the pursuit and capture of darksiders.
Danger Sense: You can reroll Perception checks to avoid surprise, notice enemies, sense deception, or sense influence (Saga Edition Core Rulebook, page 70), but the result of the reroll must be accepted even if it is worse.
Finding the Darkness: You gain a bonus on checks made to track an individual equal to the target’s Dark Side Score.
Force Camouflage: Using the Force to subtly manipulate others perceptions, you are able to hide even in plain sight. As a swift action, you can gain concealment from all non-adjacent targets. This concealment may be maintained, but requires the sacrifice of a swift action for each round in which it remains active.
Prerequisites: Clear Mind.
Force Tracking: You can use your Use the Force check modifier instead of your Survival modifier when making Survival checks to track an individual. You are considered trained in Survival for the purposes of using this talent. If you are entitled to a Survival check reroll, you may reroll your Use the Force check instead (subject to the same circumstances and limitations).
Improved Dark Side Scourge: Against creatures with a Dark Side Score of 4 or higher, you deal extra damage on melee attacks equal to one-quarter the target’s Dark Side Score (rounded down). This damage is in addition to the additional damage from Dark Side Scourge, and doubles on a critical hit, as normal.
Prerequisite: Dark Side Scourge.

Any chance of changing the name of the PrC & talent tree (to Jedi shadow or investigator perhaps)? A Jedi watchman was usually assigned to watch over a specific system/sector, not to hunt down Dark Siders. (Yes, I realize this may be based on a PrC that WotC put out, but it didn’t make sense then either.)

Good call. Jedi Shadow is actually much more appropriate. Maybe I’ll try doing a proper Jedi Watchman sometime soon, eh?

Improved Force Tracking has no prerequisite. That said, I suggest it simply be called “Dark Side Tracking” and grant the same bonus on any check used to track. It’s a little more flexible for a player who focused in mundane tracking and doesn’t want to take Force Tracking.

Just started with SWSE, so I’m a little late :) Wouldn’t Jedi Sentinel be a better name for this PrC, since a Sentinel’s job is to hunt down darksiders? :)

Sentinel is actually used for a Jedi Talent tree, so to avoid confusion I had originally used Watchman (the KotOR second tier Sentinel). However, in other sources Watchman has taken a different meaning and Jedi Shadow is used as the Jedi that hunt down Darksiders.

Yeah… continuity in Star Wars is a fickle mistress.
